Here is the CC's Report
The DF65 Class has now been around for over two and a half years and in that time the class has grown from a standing start to a class of around 750 registered owners sailing regularly at nearly 50 MYA clubs which in anyone’s eyes can only be deemed as a success.
New clubs have been formed and have affiliated to the MYA and new members have joined these clubs and have become members of the MYA, however many new members registered the boats and have had to wait for their MYA number to come through and haven’t remembered to send the number on to us.
Event wise the year kicked off with a great winter series at West Lancs YC which was really well attended, followed by a series of one and two day events across the country during the season with the Nationals taking place at Coalhouse Fort with 28 boats competing.
The supply of boats and parts is now very reliable and most items are available off the shelf from a number of specialist suppliers. There have been a couple of quality improvements that have come in this year, however like the improvements last year none of the latest improvements have affected the performance of the yacht. This was borne out by the recent US Nationals which was won by a mk1 boat, complete with deck mounted switch and wooden servo tray.
2016 will see the third year of events for the DF65 class and we are always looking for new venues to host events and we’ve already a couple lined up including Ripon SC. There is also the DragonFest event to be held at West Lancs YC in mid May.
Anything class related that you need to know about will be posted up here. Likewise anything you want to tell us about please post it up here.
