I was out on the water yesterday, moving some buoys, and noticed that although it has been very cold, and we are still in the grips of winter that the weed was still very evident in the water, the pond I was at is not very deep but the weed was only about 2 feet below the surface and there were small amounts of weed floating on the surface.
Has anyone got any ideas, on what the average club can do to minmise weed issues.
Whilst this is not an issue now, come the summer it could stop sailing at many clubs.
Darin, I think you need to ask around the various clubs. Gosport used not to have a weed problem because they used to heave weedkiller in there every year. Now the lake is a SSSI for some rare shrimp, they have to cut it. Poole rely on the lake being drained in the winter to kill it off and Hampton Court have another solution and no doubt there are more out there.Try putting a flyer round the clubs and see what cmoes back
Hey Darin, you got me all excited when I saw the title of this thread - me coming from South Africa, etc. Perhaps "Water Weed" or "Floating Weed" may have been better, lol.
